Your bags go into the car at the port, and from there it is 65 to 68 km to Fiumicino Airport, about 45 to 55 minutes in free-flowing traffic depending on where your ship docked. The car leaves by Varco Vespucci, the port's only vehicle gate, and runs south on the A12 along the coast, 51.3 km of it, then the A91 to the terminals. It does not go through Rome.
The clock on this leg starts at the ship, not at the flight. Disembarkation runs through the morning, and one major cruise line only sells its own airport coach for flights leaving at 12:00 or later, with coaches leaving the pier at 07:00, 08:00 and 09:00. It also tells guests on international flights to be at Fiumicino three hours before departure. A private car leaves when you are off the ship, not on the hour.
The public route is a bus and two trains. On Saturday 17 October 2026, the 08:10 PortLink bus from the cruise terminal reaches Civitavecchia station at 08:25, the 08:36 regional reaches Roma Trastevere, and a change there puts you at the airport at 10:03: 1 hour 53 minutes, three vehicles, every case lifted each time.
