About Nice Côte d'Azur Airport

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (IATA NCE) sits right on the coast at the western edge of the city, on the Promenade des Anglais, about 7km from the centre of Nice. It handles around 14 million passengers a year, which makes it France's third-busiest airport after Paris Charles de Gaulle and Paris Orly. easyJet runs a major base here, alongside Air France, British Airways and Lufthansa.

Two terminals. About 2km apart. A free shuttle between them. Terminal 2 is the larger building and takes most of the flights, including Air France, easyJet, British Airways and the bulk of international traffic. Terminal 1 is the smaller one. The free shuttle bus connecting the two also serves the car parks and runs roughly every 15 minutes.

NCE is the gateway to the French Riviera. In May the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix bring crowds through the airport within weeks of each other. Through summer it fills with leisure travellers heading for the coast, the Antibes marinas, and the Saint-Tropez yacht crowd further west.

The A8, known as La Provençale, is the spine of nearly every transfer from this airport. It runs the length of the coast and feeds Cannes to the west and Monaco to the east. In summer and during the big event weeks, the coast roads clog up, so allow extra time on those dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get picked up at Nice Airport?
Your driver waits in the Arrivals Hall, holding a name board with your name on it. At both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 it is the same drill: walk out past baggage reclaim and the customs exit on the ground floor and look for the board. The two terminals are about 2km apart and linked by a free shuttle every 15 minutes, so share your flight number when booking and the carrier knows which one to meet you at.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Your carrier monitors your flight and adjusts the pickup time automatically. There is no need to call ahead. Just share your flight number when you book, and if your arrival slips, your driver waits and meets you when you actually land.
How long does it take to get from Nice Airport to Nice city centre?
The centre is only 7km away, so it is about 15 to 25 minutes by road, and closer to 12 minutes in light traffic. In summer and at rush hour the Promenade des Anglais and the coast roads get busy, so allow a little more. Your carrier knows the route and plans around the traffic on the day.
What is the starting price for a private transfer from Nice Airport?
Transfers into Nice city centre start from around €40, while Cannes and Monaco start from around €75. For comparison, the regulated airport taxi to the city is a fixed flat fare of about €32. Private transfer prices vary by vehicle and group size, and the price you see at booking is the price you pay.
Can I get a transfer to Cannes or Monaco from Nice Airport?
Yes, both are live routes. A door-to-door transfer is the easy choice for groups and anyone with luggage, dropping you at your hotel rather than a station. Cannes is about 33km and 30 to 40 minutes; Monaco is about 28km by road and roughly 30 minutes, both via the A8. It is the practical way to reach the Film Festival, the Monaco Grand Prix, or any event on the coast.
What is the cancellation policy?
Standard bookings can be cancelled free of charge more than 24 hours before your scheduled pickup. For peak date travel - the last Saturday of December, the first Saturday of January, and the first three Saturdays of February - the free cancellation window extends to 72 hours before pickup. Cancellations inside these windows carry a 100% fee. Full terms shown before you confirm your booking.

What our customers say

Thomas B. — London, UK

Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.

Marta R. — Munich, Germany

Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.

Olivier D. — Lyon, France

Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.

Sarah K. — Dublin, Ireland

Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.

Pieter V. — Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.

Anna-Lisa M. — Vienna, Austria

I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
