A note on who meets you

Private hire with a driver in Spain is VTC, a separate licence from a taxi. At T1, Aena sends chauffeur-driven cars to a dedicated VTC meeting point on floor -1 of the T1 car park, away from the taxi rank on the ground floor. Some carriers meet you at the arrivals exit with a name sign instead, so the booking chat is where yours tells you which. Share your flight number and the timing is the carrier's problem, not yours.

About Barcelona Airport

The two terminals, the city links, the port and the roads out

Your driver loads the bags at the terminal you landed in, and the city is 10 km to the north-east. Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat, IATA code BCN, handled a record 57.5 million passengers in 2025, and 96 airlines fly from it. It is the Catalan gateway on our Spain transfers map.

Two terminals do different jobs. T1, opened in 2009 between the runways, takes Vueling, Iberia, British Airways, Lufthansa and the long-haul carriers. T2 is the older terminal in three buildings, T2A, T2B and T2C, and takes Ryanair, easyJet, Jet2, Wizz Air and Transavia.

They are not a walk apart. A free shuttle runs 24 hours, every 5 minutes through the day, and takes 10 minutes from T1 to T2 and 14 minutes back.

Into the city

Most public options start at one terminal and not the other.

The Aerobús A1 leaves from Level 0 of T1 and the A2 from the T2B and T2C roads, 24 hours a day, and both reach Plaça Catalunya in 30 to 35 minutes for €7.75. The R2 Nord train leaves only from T2, about every 30 minutes, and reaches Sants in around 20 minutes. The L9 Sud metro stops at both terminals but does not reach the centre without a change, and its Airport ticket is €5.90.

A Barcelona taxi runs on the meter with a €4.60 airport supplement and a €21 minimum from the airport. For a hotel in the city with a family and luggage, a transfer settles the car, the price and the pickup before you land.

The cruise port

The Port of Barcelona has seven international passenger terminals on the Adossat and Barcelona quays, and the taxi fare from the airport to Moll Adossat is fixed at €46 with every supplement included. The run takes about 30 minutes, depending on your terminal and traffic. Beyond the city

Andorra is the long run, about 203 km and around 2h 50min in free flow, and road is the only way in: the country has no airport and no railway. Our Barcelona Airport to Andorra page covers the drive in detail.

The coast is closer. Sitges is about 30 minutes down the coast, PortAventura World about an hour, and Lloret de Mar on the Costa Brava and the city of Girona about an hour the other way. Rush-hour traffic leaving Barcelona adds to every one of them.

Read down the price column and a bus seat is cheapest for one person. Read down the terminal and end-point columns and it is not the same trip.

The A2 stops only at T2B and T2C, the train leaves only from T2, and every public option ends at a station or a square rather than your hotel. A private transfer starts at the terminal you land in and ends at the door, for the whole party and its luggage in one vehicle.

Does the train from Barcelona Airport leave from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2?
