Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Via Montauti and stretches of the streets round them are a pedestrian area 24 hours a day, all year. From 1 June to the third Sunday of September a wider limited-traffic zone (ZTL) applies in the centre from 17:00 to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and public holidays, and the Roma Imperiale district has a night ZTL from 21:00 to 06:00 in high summer. An early pickup for a morning flight falls inside those hours. Ask your hotel or villa agent where a car may collect you, and give the answer to your carrier with the booking.

Comune di Forte dei Marmi, Ordinanza n. 123 of 21 May 2024, as published on the town's VisitForte site.

About This Transfer

Your driver collects you at the point agreed for your hotel or villa, loads the cases once, and takes Via Provinciale and Via G.B. Vico out of town to the A12. Forte dei Marmi to Pisa Airport is about 44 km: about 3 km of local road to the Versilia junction, then about 36 km of the A12 south to the exit signed Pisa Centro and Pisa Aeroporto. On a clear road the drive takes about 35 minutes.

That figure is free flow: no traffic and no queue at the toll booth. No road authority publishes a summer or Saturday drive time for this stretch of the A12, so set the pickup time with your carrier against your airline's check-in deadline, and ask what margin they allow in July and August. The toll from Versilia to Pisa Centro is €4.00 for a car in 2026.

The pickup point is the part to settle early. A car cannot enter the pedestrian area round Piazza Garibaldi at any hour, and in summer the centre's ZTL runs from 17:00 to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday, which with the all-day Sunday rule covers every pickup before 06:00. Roma Imperiale's first summer ZTL runs from 21:00 to 06:00. The hotel knows which rule applies to its door and where its guests' cars stop.

The rail route starts 4 km inland. The station named Forte dei Marmi-Seravezza-Querceta is in Querceta, and from there a regional train and the Pisa Mover reach the airport on one €11.80 ticket in 47 to 63 minutes on a normal day's timetable, with a change at Pisa Centrale. On one Saturday sampled, 17 October 2026, replacement buses ran on the line and the journey took 1h 36min to 3h 03min. In the October 2026 timetable the first regional connection of the day left the station at 05:19 and reached the airport at 06:08, and on the Sunday sampled the first arrived at 06:38. The airport schedules flights from 06:00.

A private car suits a morning flight, a family, or a villa that is not near the station. For the opposite direction see Pisa Airport to Forte dei Marmi. Pisa is the nearer airport for this coast, at 44 km against about 102 km to Florence Airport. Our Pisa Airport transfers page covers the terminal and the other routes from it.

Sights Along the Route

Your driver covers the distance while you enjoy the scenery.

Stop requests: Most carriers on this route are happy to make short stops at viewpoints or towns. Mention it when booking or ask your driver directly.
Piazza Garibaldi, the centre

The Fortino

The fort that gives the town its name stands in Piazza Garibaldi. Work on it began at the start of 1786 and it was handed over on 6 February 1788. The square round it is a pedestrian area 24 hours a day, so a pickup from a hotel on the square starts with a short walk to a street the car may use.

VisitForte, the Fortino →
Piazza Marconi

The Wednesday market

The Mercato del Forte is held in Piazza Marconi every Wednesday of the year from 08:00 to 13:30, and also every Sunday from Easter to the end of October. If you leave on a market morning from an address near Piazza Marconi, tell the carrier, and agree a pickup street away from the stalls.

VisitForte, the market →
28 August

Sant'Ermete

The feast of the town's patron saint is 28 August. A fair fills the centre all day and fireworks on the beach start around 22:00, with a bonfire in front of the fort the evening before. If you fly out on those days, fix the pickup point with the hotel well ahead.

Route Overview

Pickup: Forte dei Marmi

Where the car collects you depends on the street and the hour. Piazza Garibaldi and the streets round it are a pedestrian area all day, and the Comune announced retractable bollards at the entries to it from 21 May 2026. The centre's ZTL and the Roma Imperiale ZTL have their own summer hours, both running to 06:00. Give the carrier the full street address, and ask the hotel where its guests' cars stop.

Popular Pickup Points:

  • • Hotels and villas outside the pedestrian area and the ZTL
  • • The nearest open street to a hotel inside them
  • • Roma Imperiale, as the owner or agent advises
  • • Vittoria Apuana and the seafront bagni

Drop-off: Pisa Airport (PSA)

Pisa has one passenger terminal, and both check-in areas, A and B, are on its ground floor. The P3 short-stay car park faces the terminal and its first 10 minutes are free, which covers a set-down. The terminal is open to the public from 04:00.

Popular Drop-off Points:

Practical intelligence from carriers who drive this route regularly.

Best Travel Times

The clock that matters is the ZTL's, not the motorway's. From 1 June to the third Sunday of September the centre's ZTL applies from 17:00 to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and public holidays, so a pickup before 06:00 from a street inside it needs the hotel's answer on access. Outside the summer season the wider ZTL applies only on Sundays and public holidays, from 08:00 to 20:00. At the airport, the busiest day of 2025 was Saturday 28 June, with 26,705 passengers.

Traffic Patterns

About 36 km of the 44 km is motorway, after about 3 km of local road out of town. The 35 minutes is a free-flow figure, and no road authority publishes a summer or Saturday time for this stretch of the A12. Pisa Airport carried 2.4 times as many passengers in August 2025 as in January, so in high summer agree the margin with your carrier and do not plan to the minute.

Road & Border Notes

No border. The A12 is a toll motorway: Versilia to Pisa Centro is €4.00 for a car in 2026, and tariffs are revised every year. The exit for the airport is signed Pisa Centro and Pisa Aeroporto. In Forte dei Marmi the Comune's Ordinanza n. 123 of 21 May 2024 sets the pedestrian area and the ZTL hours, and electronic gates enforce the ZTL.

Carrier Tip

Book the pickup with the street address and house number, and ask the hotel 2 things first: whether the address is inside the pedestrian area, the centre ZTL or the Roma Imperiale ZTL, and where its guests' cars stop at the hour you leave. The Comune's permit list names taxis and the hotels inside the ZTL, and the bollards the Comune announced open only for authorised users. Give the carrier your flight number and your airline's check-in deadline, and let them set the pickup time.

When to Travel This Route

Demand, pricing, and what to expect across the year.

Winter (Dec-Feb)

Low Demand

January was the quietest month at Pisa Airport in 2025. In Forte dei Marmi the off-season rules apply: the pedestrian area round Piazza Garibaldi stays closed to cars 24 hours a day, and the wider centre ZTL applies only on Sundays and public holidays, from 08:00 to 20:00. An early pickup from Monday to Saturday meets no summer ZTL.

  • Quietest months at the airport
  • Centre ZTL on Sundays and holidays only, 08:00 to 20:00
  • Wednesday market, 8:00 to 13:30

Spring (Mar-May)

Medium Demand

The off-season rules hold until 31 May. From Easter the market in Piazza Marconi is held on Sundays as well as Wednesdays, and Piazza Marconi is inside the Sunday and holiday ZTL. Traffic at Pisa Airport climbs through the spring toward the summer peak.

  • Sunday market from Easter
  • Off-season ZTL rules until 31 May
  • Airport traffic rising

Summer (Jun-Aug)

Peak Demand

June to September were the 4 busiest months of 2025 at Pisa Airport, with August the highest. From 1 June the centre's ZTL applies from 17:00 to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays and public holidays, and Roma Imperiale's night ZTL, 21:00 to 06:00, starts on the Sunday of the last week of June. A pickup for an early flight falls inside both. On 28 August the feast of Sant'Ermete fills the centre with a fair all day. Book when you book the flight.

  • Centre ZTL 17:00 to 06:00, Monday to Saturday, from 1 June
  • Roma Imperiale night ZTL, 21:00 to 06:00
  • Sant'Ermete, 28 August

Autumn (Sep-Nov)

High Demand

September was still one of the 4 busiest months at the airport in 2025. Roma Imperiale's summer ZTL ends on the second Sunday of September and the centre's summer rules on the third. From the Monday after, the off-season rules return. The Sunday market runs to the end of October.

  • Summer ZTL rules end in September
  • Sunday market to the end of October
  • September still busy at the airport

Important Information

Where the Car Collects You

Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Via Montauti and stretches of Via Stagio Stagi, Via Carducci, Via IV Novembre and Via Mazzini are a pedestrian area 24 hours a day, all year. The Comune announced retractable bollards at the entries to it from 21 May 2026. Its notice says that where morning deliveries are allowed, from 08:00 to 12:00, the bollards are raised from 12:00 to 08:00 the next morning and open in those hours only for authorised users, emergency vehicles and public services, and that the paved area between Via Montauti, Via IV Novembre and Via Vittorio Veneto takes no ordinary deliveries inside it. If your hotel is on one of those streets, ask it where guests are collected and how the cases get there.

The Centre ZTL at Pickup Time

From 1 June to the third Sunday of September the centre's ZTL applies from Monday to Saturday from 17:00 to 06:00 and on Sundays and public holidays all day, with Via Sant'Ermete and Via Carlo del Prete added to its streets. From the Monday after the third Sunday of September to 31 May it applies only on Sundays and public holidays, from 08:00 to 20:00, beside a permanent ZTL on stretches of Via Stagi and Via Barsanti. Electronic gates enforce it.

Leaving from Roma Imperiale

Roma Imperiale has its own ZTL from the Sunday of the last week of June to the second Sunday of September. The first zone, which includes Via Roma Imperiale, Via Giorgini and part of Viale Morin, applies from 21:00 to 06:00. The second, on Via Colombo and other streets, applies from 01:00 to 06:00. For a pickup before 06:00, ask the owner or the agent how a booked car is admitted.

Setting the Pickup Time

The drive is about 35 minutes on a clear road, and no authority publishes a summer time for it. Give your carrier the flight number and your airline's check-in deadline and let them propose the pickup time. In high summer, ask what margin they allow for the A12.

At Pisa Airport

Pisa has one passenger terminal, with check-in areas A and B on the ground floor. The P3 short-stay car park faces the terminal, and its first 10 minutes are free. The terminal is open to the public from 04:00, and flights are scheduled from 06:00.

The Toll

The A12 toll between Versilia, the exit for Forte dei Marmi, and Pisa Centro, the airport's exit, is €4.00 for a car in 2026, in either direction. Tariffs are revised every year. Ask your carrier to state in the offer whether the toll is included.

The Train for an Early Flight

The station named Forte dei Marmi-Seravezza-Querceta is in Querceta, 4 km from the centre, about 7 minutes by road. In the October 2026 timetable the first regional train and Pisa Mover connection left it at 05:19 and reached the airport at 06:08 on the Tuesday and the Saturday sampled, and on the Sunday the first arrived at 06:38. The last regional connection left at 21:32 and arrived at 22:28.

Luggage

A private car takes what the vehicle you booked takes, so put the number of cases in the booking notes, with anything long or bulky. By rail the cases change vehicle 2 times, at the station in Querceta and at Pisa Centrale.

Child Seats

Carriers provide child seats on request, but you need to book them. Put each child's age in the booking notes, because a booster and a rear-facing infant seat are different equipment. Confirm the seat is in the offer before you pay.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get from Forte dei Marmi to Pisa Airport?

About 35 minutes by car on a clear road, for about 44 km from Piazza Garibaldi to the terminal forecourt. About 36 km of it is the A12 motorway, from the Versilia junction to the exit signed Pisa Centro and Pisa Aeroporto. The time is a free-flow figure with no traffic, and no road authority publishes a summer time for the stretch.

What time should I leave Forte dei Marmi for a flight from Pisa Airport?

Work back from your airline's check-in deadline, not from a fixed rule. The drive is about 35 minutes on a clear road, and nobody publishes an official summer figure, so give your carrier the flight number and the deadline and agree the pickup time and the margin with them. If the pickup is before 06:00 in summer, check with your hotel that a car may reach the door, because the centre's ZTL runs to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays.

Is there a train from Forte dei Marmi to Pisa Airport?

Yes, with 2 changes of vehicle and not from the town itself. The station named Forte dei Marmi-Seravezza-Querceta is in Querceta, 4 km from the centre. From there a regional train to Pisa Centrale and the Pisa Mover reach the airport on one €11.80 ticket in 47 to 63 minutes. In the October 2026 timetable the first regional connection arrived at the airport at 06:08, or 06:38 on the Sunday sampled. A private transfer leaves from your street at the hour your flight needs.

Can a car pick me up at my hotel in the centre of Forte dei Marmi?

It depends on the street and the hour. A hotel outside the pedestrian area and the ZTL is reached at the door at any time. Piazza Garibaldi, Via Roma, Via Montauti and stretches of the streets round them are a pedestrian area all day, and the Comune announced retractable bollards at the entries from 21 May 2026. In summer the wider centre ZTL applies from 17:00 to 06:00 from Monday to Saturday and all day on Sundays. Ask your hotel where its guests are collected and give that to your carrier.

Is there a toll between Forte dei Marmi and Pisa Airport?

Yes. The A12 is a toll motorway, and the toll from Versilia, the junction for Forte dei Marmi, to Pisa Centro, the airport's exit, is €4.00 for a car in 2026. It is the same in both directions, and tariffs are revised every year. Ask your carrier to state in the offer whether the toll is included.

Where does a transfer drop me at Pisa Airport?

At the front of the airport's one passenger terminal. Both check-in areas, A and B, are on the ground floor. The P3 short-stay car park faces the terminal and its first 10 minutes are free, which covers a set-down with luggage.

Is Pisa or Florence the nearer airport for Forte dei Marmi?

Pisa. Forte dei Marmi is about 44 km and 35 minutes from Pisa Airport on a clear road. Florence Airport is about 102 km and 1h 14min in the same direction of travel. If you have a choice of flights home, the one from Pisa saves about 40 minutes of road.

How much does a private transfer from Forte dei Marmi to Pisa Airport cost?

TransferBnB does not publish a fixed price for this route. You post the trip with your flight, passenger count, luggage and address, and verified carriers send offers per vehicle that you compare before you pay. The offer should state whether the €4.00 motorway toll is included.

What our customers say

  • Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.
    Thomas B. - London, UK
  • Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.
    Marta R. - Munich, Germany
  • Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.
    Olivier D. - Lyon, France
  • Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.
    Sarah K. - Dublin, Ireland
  • Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.
    Pieter V. - Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
    Anna-Lisa M. - Vienna, Austria
