About This Transfer

Your driver meets you in arrivals at Kraków Airport, the suitcases go into the boot, and the car takes the A4 round the south of Kraków to the Kraków Wieliczka junction. The airport sits about 11 km west of the city and the mine 10 km south-east of it, so the drive goes round Kraków rather than through it: about 27 km and about 20 minutes in free-flowing traffic, more at rush hour on the ring.

The car stops at the Daniłowicz Shaft, Daniłowicza 10, where every Tourist Route tour starts. That is the point of taking it straight from a flight. The mine allows only a small bag underground, 20 x 20 x 35 cm, and asks visitors to leave suitcases in their car or coach, or in its storage room and lockers, which are free but limited.

The tour is guided and runs 2 to 3 hours: about 3.5 km on foot, about 800 stairs, 380 of them at the start, down to 135 m at 17 to 18 °C. Tickets are timed. Polish and English tours can be bought at the shaft if any are left, but German, French, Italian, Spanish and every other language must be bought online in advance.

The tour ends at the Daniłowicz Shaft or the Regis Shaft, under 500 m apart, so tell the carrier which one if you book the car back. For every run from the terminal, see our Kraków Airport transfers page, and our airport transfers page explains how carriers quote for a wait or a second stop.

Route Overview

Pickup: Kraków Airport (KRK)

Kraków John Paul II Airport at Balice, about 11 km west of the city. The Kiss & Fly bay allows 8 free minutes and forbids drivers to leave the car, so a driver who meets you inside parks in P1 or P2/P3 and walks to arrivals.

Popular Pickup Points:

• Meet and greet in the arrivals hall
• Driver parked in P1 or P2/P3
• Flight monitoring for late landings
• Suitcases loaded once, at the terminal

Drop-off: Wieliczka Salt Mine, Daniłowicz Shaft

Daniłowicza 10, Wieliczka: the assembly point for every Tourist Route tour, with the ticket office, toilets, ATMs and Bistro Posolone beside it. Car Park 2 "Daniłowicz" is next to the shaft building, and the luggage storage is in the "Górnik" building nearby.

Popular Drop-off Points:

• Daniłowicz Shaft, Daniłowicza 10
• Car Park 2 "Daniłowicz" by the shaft
• Regis Shaft, pl. Kościuszki 9, for the way out
• Grand Sal hotel and Wieliczka addresses

Local Route Knowledge

Practical intelligence from carriers who drive this route regularly.

🕐

Best Travel Times

Book the tour first and the car to it. Tours run at designated times, and the time you pick online decides the pickup: with a 20-minute drive and the bags loaded at the terminal, a landing in the morning and a tour before lunch fit one easy day. The mine sets its hours day by day and has closed days, so check the date you want before you book either.

🚦

Traffic Patterns

The A4 ring is the whole drive: from Balice round the south of Kraków to the Kraków Wieliczka junction, then a short run into Wieliczka. The ring is where rush hour costs time, and nobody publishes by how much, so give the car a margin before a timed entry rather than none.

🛣️

Road & Border Notes

No border and no mountain road: the whole drive stays on the A4 motorway and town streets in the Kraków area. At the mine, Car Park 2 by the Daniłowicz Shaft takes cars only, and the bigger Car Park 1 at the Graduation Tower is entered from ul. Dembowskiego.

💡

Carrier Tip

Say in the request that you are going straight to the mine with luggage, and ask carriers to quote the wait or the return with your onward drive to Kraków: the mine itself tells visitors to leave suitcases in their car. Name the exit as well. The tour ends at the Daniłowicz Shaft or the Regis Shaft, and a driver waiting at the wrong one is a walk you did not need with a family.

What our customers say

Thomas B. — London, UK

Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.

Marta R. — Munich, Germany

Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.

Olivier D. — Lyon, France

Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.

Sarah K. — Dublin, Ireland

Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.

Pieter V. — Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.

Anna-Lisa M. — Vienna, Austria

I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
