About 1h 20min in ordinary traffic, no border, no tunnel toll.

Salzburg Airport asks you to be there two hours before departure, so the floor from a Bad Gastein door is 3h 20min, and a winter Saturday or a snowfall needs extra on top, by an amount no operator publishes. Thermal water at over 1,000 m, directly opposite the railway station, and the obvious last morning before an afternoon flight. In summer, day guests park free at the Stubnerkogelbahn and cross a panoramic footbridge to the ticket office. Tell your carrier if the pickup is the spa car park rather than the hotel.

The 341 m fall in three stages through the middle of Bad Gastein, under the Belle Epoque facades. It is a walk from the middle of town rather than an excursion, which makes it the right thing to do with the hour before a late pickup.

The 140 m bridge at the top of the Stubnerkogel, reached from the valley station beside the railway station. A morning up there and a 14:00 flight do not fit together, but a morning up there and an evening flight do, as long as the carrier knows which it is pricing.
Skigastein →Hohenwerfen Fortress
A 900-year-old fortified castle above the Salzach at km 42.4 of the A10, about halfway out. With a long gap before an evening flight it is the one stop on this road that justifies itself, and the carrier prices the waiting time, so ask before the day rather than at the exit.

The valley's main road, the B167, runs about 18 km from Dorfgastein past Bad Hofgastein and Bad Gastein to Böckstein, and Sportgastein lies about 6 km beyond on the Gasteiner Alpenstraße, a toll road, so the carrier needs the village and the street. Traffic Patterns
The first 22 km are the slow ones: the B167 down from the valley through two villages to Lend, with no alternative road if something blocks it. After Lend the B311 runs east along the Salzach through Schwarzach and St. Johann im Pongau, and from Knoten Pongau the A10 is motorway all the way to Salzburg. Snow and Saturday changeover both hit the valley end rather than the motorway end.
Road & Border Notes
No border in either direction: the route stays in Austria. The A10 needs a vignette, normally the carrier's, the A1 hop to the airport exit does not, and the Tauern tunnel section toll lies south of the route. Austrian winter equipment rules run from 1 November to 15 April in wintry conditions. The Tauernbahn motorail at Böckstein is closed for renovation from 8 February to 9 July 2027, which matters for cars crossing south to Carinthia and not at all for a run north to Salzburg.

Say which village, because Dorfgastein is about 15 minutes closer than Bad Gastein and Sportgastein about 17 further.
