About This Transfer
From the Arrivals hall at Henri Coandă to a hotel on the Black Sea is one car and one set of doors. The DN1 at Otopeni lasts only a few kilometers before the car turns onto the Bucharest ring road, and it never enters the city center. The ring road brings it round to the A2, the Autostrada Soarelui, and the next 200 km are motorway, across the Danube between Fetești and Cernavodă, to the edge of Constanța. The whole run is about 243 km and takes about 2h 50min in free-flowing traffic.
Routing sites put the trip at 235 km and 2h 25min, measured from somewhere other than the terminal; operators who drive the route publish 2h 45min, and the free-flow figure above is the one to plan on. There is no toll to pay on the way. The Fetești bridge toll, the one charge the A2 used to make, was abolished on 1 October 2026, though many route pages still list it. The only road charge left for a car is the rovinieta, Romania's road vignette, and on a transfer that is the carrier's vehicle, not yours.
No train runs from the airport to Constanța without a change. The airport train goes to București Nord, and the quickest chain on the current timetable reaches Constanța station in 2h48, about as quick as the car on paper. It ends at the station, though, and the last chain that arrives the same night leaves the airport at 19:52.
Mamaia, the beach strip on Constanța's northern edge, is about 6 km further and the same 2h 50min. For every run from the terminal, see our Bucharest Airport transfers page, and our airport transfers page explains how meet and greet, flight tracking and group size shape a quote.

Sights Along the Route
Your driver covers the distance while you enjoy the scenery.
Constanța Casino
The Art Nouveau casino on the seafront is the picture on every Constanța postcard, and it is open to visitors again: Wednesday to Monday, 10:00 to 18:00, closed on Tuesdays, with tickets booked online. The transfer can drop you on the peninsula a short walk away.
Cazino Constanța →The Roman Mosaic Edifice
A Roman hall of about 2,000 m², built at the turn of the 3rd and 4th centuries AD, with about 400 m² of its polychrome floor mosaic still in place. The museum calls it the largest Roman-Byzantine polychrome mosaic found in the Balkans. The museum's main building on Piața Ovidiu is closed for rehabilitation, so check what is open before you go.

Pickup: Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport (OTP)
Your driver meets you in the Arrivals hall after baggage claim, and your carrier confirms the exact spot and where the car waits in the booking chat. Agree it before you fly: the Arrivals car park, P2, is closed for works until 28 February 2027, and vehicles with more than 7 seats may use only the P5 car park. App ride-hailing cars collect at Departures.
Popular Pickup Points:
- • Meet in the Arrivals hall, name board ready
- • Flight monitoring, so a late landing does not lose you the car
- • Late arrivals covered, after the last useful train
- • Beach bags, buggies and extra cases declared at booking
Drop-off: Constanța, Mamaia and the coast
A transfer drives to any address in Constanța: hotels and apartments on the peninsula, in the city, by the station or in Mamaia. Mamaia is a strip about 8 km long between the Black Sea and Lake Siutghiol, so give the hotel name and address, not just the resort.
Popular Drop-off Points:
- • Hotels and apartments in central Constanța
- • The peninsula, near Piața Ovidiu and the Casino
- • Mamaia hotels, along the whole strip
- • Constanța railway station, if you are meeting others
Local Route Knowledge
Practical intelligence from carriers who drive this route regularly.
Best Travel Times
Weekdays and the months outside the beach season run cleanest. The beach season is at its best from mid-June to early September, and summer weekends are when the A2 fills: on the first Saturday of August 2026 the A2 was one of three roads the police traffic center reported as busiest, and the slowest stretch was between Fetești and Cernavodă. Outside summer the motorway is an easy run.
Traffic Patterns
The airport sits north of Bucharest, so the car skips the city and takes the ring road to the A2, then has about 200 km of motorway to Constanța. The slow point in summer is the Danube crossing between Fetești and Cernavodă, where the police report traffic running at reduced speed on busy weekends. No authority publishes the delay in minutes, so allow for it on a summer Saturday rather than plan to it.
Road & Border Notes
The drive stays in Romania. Since 1 October 2026 a car pays no toll on it: the Fetești bridge toll is gone, and the rovinieta, the time-based road vignette every car needs on national roads and motorways, is the only charge. Romanian law makes winter tires compulsory on any road covered with snow, ice or slush, whatever the date. The A2 crosses the open Bărăgan plain and has been closed in severe storms, as it was from km 12 to km 212 on 10 January 2017 under an orange blizzard warning.
Carrier Tip
Give the hotel name as well as the street: Mamaia is a long, thin strip and the same street number can be a long way from the lobby. If you land after about 19:00, say so: on the timetable to 12 December 2026 the 19:52 is the last airport train that reaches Constanța the same night. The car does not depend on it.

Important Information
Meeting your driver at Henri Coandă
Your carrier confirms the meeting point in the Arrivals hall and where the car waits in the booking chat, so settle it before you fly. The Arrivals car park, P2, is closed for works until 28 February 2027, and vehicles with more than 7 seats may use only the P5 car park. Give your carrier the flight number so it can track the landing.
Landing late
On the timetable to 12 December 2026, the 19:52 airport train is the last one that reaches Constanța the same evening, at 22:54; the next leaves at 20:32 and arrives at 06:52 the next morning. The timetable changes on 13 December 2026, so check the late trains again after that. A pre-booked car does not depend on any of them.
Tolls and the rovinieta
Since 1 October 2026 there is no bridge toll at Fetești and no other toll on the A2 for a car. Every car on Romanian national roads and motorways needs a rovinieta, the road vignette; on a private transfer that is the carrier's vehicle and the carrier's vignette.
Winter on the A2
Romanian law makes winter tires compulsory on any road covered with snow, ice or slush. In severe storms the police and the road authority close the A2, as they did from km 12 to km 212 on 10 January 2017. When the road authority closed it as far as Fetești in March 2018, it sent traffic by the DN3 and DN3A.
Luggage
Declare large cases, buggies and beach gear when you book. They decide the vehicle: a sedan carrying three passengers will not also carry three large cases and a pushchair.
Child seats
Child and booster seats are available on request. Put the ages in the booking notes, not just the number of children, because the ages decide the seat type.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the drive from Bucharest Airport to Constanta?
About 2 hours 50 minutes in free-flowing traffic, for about 243 km: a few kilometers of the DN1 from Henri Coandă Airport, the Bucharest ring road, then the A2 motorway, the Autostrada Soarelui, to Constanța. Summer weekends are slower, most of all where the A2 crosses the Danube between Fetești and Cernavodă.
How much does a private transfer from Bucharest Airport to Constanta cost?
On TransferBnB a private transfer from Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport to Constanța starts from around €275 per vehicle for a sedan and €390 for a minivan, one way; minibuses are quoted on request. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so three people in a sedan pay about €92 each. Verified carriers send quotes for your date.
Is there a train from Bucharest Airport to Constanta?
Not a direct one. The airport train runs to București Nord in about 20 minutes, every 40 minutes, and you change there for a train to Constanța. On the timetable valid to 12 December 2026 a daytime trip takes 2h48 to 3h25 and ends at Constanța station. A private transfer takes about 2h 50min with no change and drops you at your hotel.
Do I have to pay the Fetești bridge toll on the way to Constanta?
No. Romania abolished the Fetești bridge toll on 1 October 2026, and a car now pays no toll between Bucharest Airport and Constanța. Every car on Romanian national roads and motorways still needs a rovinieta, the road vignette; on a private transfer that is the carrier's vehicle and the carrier's vignette.
How far is Mamaia from Bucharest Airport?
About 249 km and about 2 hours 50 minutes in free-flowing traffic, by the A2 and the A4 Constanța bypass. Mamaia is the beach strip on Constanța's northern edge, about 6 km further than central Constanța, so give the hotel name and address when you book.
What is the nearest airport to Constanta?
Constanța's own airport, Mihail Kogălniceanu (CND), about 28 km and 40 minutes from the city center. Bucharest Henri Coandă Airport (OTP) is about 243 km and 2 hours 50 minutes away by the A2.
Does the A2 motorway to Constanta close in winter?
Only in severe storms, but it has happened: on 10 January 2017 the police closed the A2 from km 12 to km 212 in both directions under an orange blizzard warning. Romanian law makes winter tires compulsory on any road covered with snow, ice or slush.
When is the A2 to Constanta busiest?
On summer weekends in the beach season, which is at its best from mid-June to early September. On the first Saturday of August 2026 the police traffic center reported the A2 as one of the three busiest roads in Romania, with traffic slowest between Fetești and Cernavodă.

What our customers say
Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.
Thomas B. - London, UK Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.
Marta R. - Munich, Germany Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.
Olivier D. - Lyon, France Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.
Sarah K. - Dublin, Ireland Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.
Pieter V. - Amsterdam, Netherlands I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
Anna-Lisa M. - Vienna, Austria
