Say which Courchevel, and say it when you book
Courchevel is six villages on one mountain road, not one address: Saint-Bon at the bottom, then Le Praz, Courchevel Village, Courchevel Moriond, Courchevel 1850 above them, and La Tania on its own side road. The four numbered ones carry their altitude in their name, so Le Praz sits well below 1850 with a run of hairpins between them. A booking that says only Courchevel gives your driver a valley and not a destination.
Give the village, the accommodation name and the street. La Tania in particular is reached by a different turning and is not on the way to anywhere else.
About This Transfer
You come out of Geneva Airport arrivals into a waiting car, and about two and a quarter hours later it stops outside your chalet at whichever altitude you booked. The corridor runs south past Annecy, along the edge of the Lac du Bourget to Chambéry, then east on the A430 to Albertville and onto the RN90, the dual carriageway that carries every skier in the Tarentaise. Motorway or dual carriageway does three quarters of the work. Then the road leaves the valley at Moûtiers and climbs, and Courchevel Tourisme puts that final stretch at thirty minutes on what it calls a wide, clear and secure road.
The distance is the first number to pin down, because the published figures disagree. A figure of about 135 km circulates widely, closer to a straight line than to the road; Courchevel Tourisme, the destination's own authority, publishes 179 km from Geneva International Airport, and operators who drive the corridor put it at 187 km. Plan on 179 km.
Drive time runs longer than the brochure. The tourist office says 2h00; the transfer companies that run this road every week publish 2h15 to 2h30 midweek and 3h15 to 3h45 on a peak changeover Saturday. Call it 2h 15min midweek, and treat a February Saturday as its own category.
No railway reaches Courchevel. The rails end at Moûtiers, and from there it is a bus at around €12 a head, a taxi at €75, or the car you already booked. The last thirty minutes is a road climb whichever of the three you choose; the only question is how many times you and your skis get out and get in again. Annecy and its lake
The first thing worth looking up for. The motorway skirts the northern end of the Lac d'Annecy on its way south, with the old town and its canals just off the exit. It is the natural break on a summer transfer and a poor one in February, when you want the daylight for the mountain road instead. Ask your carrier before you book if you want to stop: waiting time is priced, not assumed.

The junction town where the A430 ends and the RN90 into the Tarentaise begins, so every car in this story passes through it. It hosted the Winter Olympics in 1992, and on a changeover Saturday it is where the queue for the whole valley starts. If the drive loses time anywhere, it loses it between here and Moûtiers.
Ville d'Albertville →Moûtiers, the end of the rails
The last railway station before the mountains and the reason every public-transport plan for Courchevel has a road leg in it. Regional coaches run up from here at around €12 per adult, with reduced fares under 26 and 10 percent off when you book more than two days ahead, and the taxi rank holds 34 cars for 1 to 8 passengers at €75 to Courchevel. Every public route to Courchevel changes here; a private transfer just drives past.
Getting to Courchevel →Courchevel Altiport
The short uphill runway cut into the mountainside above the resort, which takes certain private and commercial flights and is one of the more filmed pieces of tarmac in the Alps. It matters to a road transfer for one reason: it is not the arrival point for a scheduled flight, so if somebody has told you to be met at the altiport, check what they actually booked. Almost every arrival into Courchevel comes up the road from Moûtiers.

The point of the drive. Courchevel's lifts open into the 3 Vallées, one linked area on a single pass, and the 2026/27 season runs 4 December 2026 to 18 April 2027 with the wider 3 Vallées area from 5 December. An adult six-day pass is €421.00 from 19 December 2026 and €378.50 in the opening fortnight, which is worth knowing before you decide the transfer is the expensive part.

Pickup: Geneva Airport (GVA)
One terminal building with two sectors, and which one you arrive in is decided by your airline, not by you. Most UK, Irish and Dutch flights land in the Swiss sector, and your driver meets you in the Swiss arrivals hall with a name board. Flights from within France land in the France Sector, which has its own baggage carousel and its own road out through the Ferney-Voltaire customs post. Give your carrier the flight number and it will work out the rest; add the sector if you already know it.

Six villages strung up one road, and a car reaches all of them. The four numbered ones are named for their altitude in metres, which is also the order you meet them climbing: Le Praz at 1300, Courchevel Village at 1550, Courchevel Moriond at 1650 and Courchevel 1850 at the top. Saint-Bon is the original village at the bottom and La Tania sits off to the side on its own approach. Give the carrier the village and the address and the drop lands where you sleep rather than where the road happens to pass.

Best Travel Times
Saturday is the day this corridor is built around and the day to avoid. The whole Tarentaise changes over at once, the RN90 is the only main road into it, and operators who drive the route publish 3h15 to 3h45 for a peak changeover Saturday against 2h15 to 2h30 midweek. Les 3 Vallées recommends travelling Sunday to Sunday for exactly this reason. A midweek landing in the same week runs close to the free-flow figure. If Saturday is fixed by your flights, land in the morning rather than the middle of the day.
Traffic Patterns
The delay is not on the mountain. It builds on the RN90 between Albertville and Moûtiers, where every car heading for Courchevel, Méribel, Val Thorens, Les Menuires, La Plagne, Les Arcs, Tignes and Val d'Isère is funnelled onto one dual carriageway, and it builds again at the Moûtiers roundabouts where those flows separate. The Swiss stretch out of Geneva and the run down to Chambéry are rarely the problem. A transfer that leaves the airport an hour earlier on a Saturday arrives more than an hour earlier, because it gets through Albertville before the queue forms.
Road & Border Notes
One border, taken on the motorway shortly after leaving the airport, with no scheduled stop. Carry your passport or ID; EU and Swiss travellers are normally waved through and non-EU passengers should have documents to hand. The Swiss motorway vignette is CHF 40 for 2026, valid 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2027, and it is your carrier's cost, not a line on your quote. A car collecting in the France Sector leaves by the Ferney-Voltaire customs road and never touches a Swiss motorway at all. From 1 November to 31 March, French law requires vehicles driving to ski resorts in Savoie to be equipped with snow tyres, winter tyres or snow chains, which is why a February quote and an August quote are not the same vehicle.
Carrier Tip
Name the village, then the street. Half the confusion on this route comes from booking 'Courchevel' when you mean Le Praz, which sits a long way below 1850, or La Tania, which is a separate turning altogether. The second thing to declare is the equipment: skis, boards and boot bags decide which vehicle the carrier sends, and a saloon that seats four does not take four ski bags. Third, if you are landing on a Saturday in February, say so in the booking notes. A carrier that knows will pad the pickup rather than find out on the RN90.

What is left is the cheapest and quietest transfer of the year on a road with nothing on it, and a resort packing the winter away. French winter equipment law runs to 31 March, so an April or May car is on summer tyres and the mountain road is simply a mountain road again. Worth it if the mountain rather than the skiing is the point.

Annecy and its lake become the reason to leave earlier and take the break, the RN90 carries a fraction of its February load, and the drive comes in at the tourist office's two hours rather than the winter two and a quarter. Courchevel in summer is hiking, the Vanoise on its doorstep and a village that is not pretending to be Saint-Tropez for eight weeks.
