About This Transfer

Your driver collects you at the door of the hotel, chalet or apartment in Les Deux Alpes, the skis and cases go into the back once, and the car drops down the D213 to the Chambon dam, about 10 km below the resort. There it joins the D1091 and follows the Romanche valley down through Le Bourg-d'Oisans, Livet-et-Gavet and Séchilienne to Vizille, takes the N85 to the A480 round Grenoble, and runs north on the A48 and west on the A43 to Lyon-Saint Exupéry. The whole run is about 162 km and takes about 2h 15min in free-flowing traffic.

Plan the day backwards from the flight. Lyon Airport recommends arriving 2.5 hours before departure, so leave Les Deux Alpes at least 4h 45min before the flight. For a flight at noon that means a pickup by quarter past seven in the morning.

The slow half comes first. The descent and the valley road are ordinary road, about 65 km of it before the motorway starts at Grenoble, and it is where snow or a holiday Saturday costs time. An operator who drives the route allows at least an hour more on winter Saturdays and Sundays.

The same drive in the other direction, and every other run from the terminal, is on our Lyon Airport transfers page. Our ski resort transfers page explains what skis, boards and group size do to a quote, and the French Alps ski transfers guide is the wider picture for the season.

One last run from the Jandri

The Jandri reaches 3,200 m in 17 minutes from the centre of the resort, so a last morning on the snow fits a late flight. Count the pickup back from the flight first: at least 4h 45min before departure.

Venosc

The short outing that fits a departure day: a village of century-old houses and cobbled, pedestrianised streets in the Vénéon valley, 8 minutes below the resort by gondola.

Route Overview

Pickup: Les Deux Alpes, Oisans, Isère

The carrier collects you at your own door: hotels, chalets and apartments in the resort at 1,650 m. Give the full address and the name of the residence. If you are staying in Venosc, down in the Vénéon valley, say so when you book, because the pickup is in the village and not at the top of the gondola.

Popular Pickup Points:

• Hotels, chalets and apartments in Les Deux Alpes
• By the Jandri, after a last run
• Place des Deux Alpes, by the tourist office
• Venosc village, on request

Drop-off: Lyon-Saint Exupéry Airport (LYS)

The drop is at Terminal 1 departures. Terminal 2 has been closed to the public since 1 April 2026 and every flight leaves from Terminal 1, so there is no terminal to choose. Give the carrier the flight number, and the pickup time follows from it.

Popular Drop-off Points:

• Drop at Terminal 1 departures
• One terminal in use since 1 April 2026
• TGV station a few minutes' walk away
• Airport advice: arrive 2.5 hours before the flight

Practical intelligence from carriers who drive this route regularly.

🕐

Best Travel Times

Midweek runs cleanest. The French winter holidays run from 6 February to 8 March 2027, and their Saturdays are the changeover days: 6, 13, 20 and 27 February and 6 March. The Christmas holidays end on 4 January 2027. The winter season closes on Sunday 2 May 2027, the last skiing of all on Sunday 4 July.

🚦

Traffic Patterns

The return is the outbound drive in reverse, and the order matters. The first 65 km are the D213, the D1091 and the N85, with no motorway until the A480 at Grenoble; from there it is autoroute to the airport, about 90 km. The A480 has run on three lanes each way since 2022 and the Rondeau works finished in July 2026, with a 70 km/h limit on about 6 km of it.

🛣️

Road & Border Notes

The drive stays in France and crosses no border. The one toll, between the Voreppe and Saint-Quentin-Fallavier barriers, is €13.70 for a car and €21.70 for a vehicle over 2 m high. From 1 November to 31 March winter equipment is compulsory in Les Deux Alpes and down the Romanche valley as far as Séchilienne: four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels. The resort itself advises keeping chains in the boot, above all if it snows on the day you leave.

💡

Carrier Tip

Book the pickup from the flight time, not from a guess at the drive: at least 4h 45min before departure, more on a holiday Saturday or after overnight snow. Declare skis, boards and boot bags, because they decide the vehicle. For a flight at seven in the morning the pickup is at quarter past two in the night, and a pre-booked car is at the door at that hour.

Important Information

When to leave Les Deux Alpes
Lyon Airport recommends arriving 2.5 hours before your flight departs. With a 2h 15min drive, leave Les Deux Alpes at least 4h 45min before the flight, and more on a holiday Saturday or in snow. For a flight at noon that is a pickup by quarter past seven in the morning.
Early flights
For a flight at seven in the morning the pickup is at quarter past two in the night. A pre-booked car leaves when the flight needs it to, and the driver, not you, takes the descent to the Chambon dam in the dark.
Winter equipment on the way down
From 1 November to 31 March the law requires winter equipment in Les Deux Alpes and in the Romanche valley communes as far down as Séchilienne: four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels. The rule covers every vehicle with four wheels or more, a transfer vehicle included. The resort's own advice is to keep chains in the boot, above all if it snows on the day you leave.
Holiday Saturdays
The French winter holidays run from 6 February to 8 March 2027 in three zones, and the Saturdays inside them are changeover days: 6, 13, 20 and 27 February and 6 March. An operator who drives this road allows at least an hour more on winter Saturdays and Sundays. Add it to the pickup time, not to your nerves at the terminal.
Skis, boards and luggage
Declare ski bags, board bags and boot bags when you book. They decide the vehicle: a saloon carrying three passengers will not also carry three hard ski cases.
Child seats
Child and booster seats are available on request. Put the ages in the booking notes, not just the number of children, because the ages decide the seat type.

Frequently Asked Questions

How early should I leave Les Deux Alpes for a flight from Lyon Airport?
At least 4 hours 45 minutes before the flight: the drive is about 2h 15min in free-flowing traffic, and Lyon Airport recommends arriving 2.5 hours before departure. For a flight at noon that means leaving by quarter past seven in the morning. Leave more time on a holiday Saturday or in snow, because the first 65 km are mountain and valley road.
How long is the drive from Les Deux Alpes to Lyon Airport?
About 2 hours 15 minutes in free-flowing traffic, for about 162 km: the D213 down to the Chambon dam, the D1091 down the Romanche valley through Le Bourg-d'Oisans to Vizille, the N85, the A480 round Grenoble, then the A48 and A43 to Lyon-Saint Exupéry. Holiday Saturdays and snow make it longer.
How do I get from Les Deux Alpes to Lyon Airport by bus or train?
There is no railway at Les Deux Alpes; the nearest TGV station is Grenoble, 70 km away. By public transport you take the regional bus toward Grenoble, changing at Le Bourg-d'Oisans, then a coach from Grenoble bus station to the airport, which the airport puts at 55 minutes to 1h 05min. A shared ski shuttle also runs direct on Saturdays. A private transfer takes about 2h 15min with no change and leaves at the time your flight needs.
How much does a private transfer from Les Deux Alpes to Lyon Airport cost?
On TransferBnB a private transfer from Les Deux Alpes to Lyon Airport starts from around €370 per vehicle for a saloon and €455 for a minivan, one way; an estate or a minibus is quoted on request. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so three people in a saloon pay about €123 each. Verified carriers send quotes for your date.
Are there tolls on the road from Les Deux Alpes to Lyon Airport?
One. The D213, the D1091, the N85 and the A480 round Grenoble are free; the toll is paid between the Voreppe and Saint-Quentin-Fallavier barriers on the A48 and A43, €13.70 for a car and €21.70 for a vehicle over 2 m high, at the tariff in force since 1 February 2026.
Do I need snow chains to drive down from Les Deux Alpes?
From 1 November to 31 March the law requires either four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels, in Les Deux Alpes and in the Romanche valley communes as far down as Séchilienne. The resort advises keeping chains in the boot, above all if it snows on the day you leave. On a private transfer the equipment is the carrier's job.
When does the ski season end at Les Deux Alpes in 2027?
The winter season ends on Sunday 2 May 2027. High-altitude skiing continues from 3 to 30 May 2027, and from 31 May to 4 July 2027 the ski area opens in part and doubles as a training camp for athletes, federations and clubs. The resort's calendar ends on Sunday 4 July 2027.

What our customers say

Thomas B. — London, UK

Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.

Marta R. — Munich, Germany

Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.

Olivier D. — Lyon, France

Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.

Sarah K. — Dublin, Ireland

Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.

Pieter V. — Amsterdam, Netherlands

Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.

Anna-Lisa M. — Vienna, Austria

I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
