About This Transfer
Your driver meets you in arrivals at Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport, the skis and cases go into the back once, and the car sets off along the D119 to join the A48 at Rives, about 13 km and 10 minutes from the terminal. The motorway runs south past Voreppe to Grenoble and becomes the A480 down the west side of the city. From there the car takes the N85 to Vizille and the D1091 up the Romanche valley through Le Bourg-d'Oisans to the Chambon dam, where it turns right onto the D213 for the last 10 km up to the resort at 1,650 m. The whole run is about 115 km and takes about 1h 45min in free-flowing traffic.
The airport is not in Grenoble. It is at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 45 km north-west of the city, which is why the 70 km and 1h 15 that some pages print for this transfer are too short: those are the figures from Grenoble itself. Some guides quote 110 km and 1h 30. Routed by the signed road from the dam it is 1h 45min before any traffic, and operators who drive it publish up to 2h 15.
Only about a third of the drive is motorway. After the A480 it is ordinary road for about 65 km: a national road, one valley road and a mountain climb.
Grenoble is the nearest airport to Les Deux Alpes. Chambéry is about 140 km and 2h 05min from the resort, Lyon-Saint Exupéry about 162 km and 2h 15min, and Geneva about 219 km and 2h 55min, and all four finish on the same 65 km. There is one toll on the way, €3.90 for a car. No railway reaches the resort, and none serves the airport.
Les Deux Alpes sits at 1,650 m under a glacier that takes the lifts to 3,600 m, and the car goes to the door of the hotel, chalet or apartment. For every run from the terminal, see our Grenoble Airport transfers page. If you have not booked the flight yet, our guide to which airport to choose for the French Alps weighs the options, and the table of Alpine resorts by nearest airport puts the airports side by side.

Sights Along the Route
Your driver covers the distance while you enjoy the scenery.
The Jandri and the glacier
The Jandri reaches 3,200 m in 17 minutes from the centre of the resort, in two sections with a stop at 2,600 m, and a funicular carries on to 3,400 m. The ski area tops out at 3,600 m on the glacier: 220 km of slopes, and a 2,300 m vertical drop without taking a lift.
Les 2 Alpes ski area →Belvédère des Écrins and the ice cave
Two reasons for the non-skiers in the car to ride up: a footbridge over the void at 3,400 m, a 10-minute walk from the funicular, and an ice cave carved 30 metres beneath the glacier.
Les 2 Alpes pedestrian access →Venosc
A village of century-old houses and cobbled, pedestrianised streets below the resort. The gondola links it to Les Deux Alpes in 8 minutes.
Venosc village →The Chambon dam
The turn that matters. At the dam the car leaves the D1091, which carries on toward Briançon and the Col du Lautaret, and climbs the D213 to the resort. It is the normal winter road, and the resort says its roads are generally cleared of snow.

The airport is at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 45 km north-west of Grenoble. Your driver meets you in arrivals, at the spot the carrier confirms. Nobody may stop in front of the terminal: car park P2 is the airport's drop-off area, and its first 10 minutes are free.

- • Meet in arrivals, at the spot the carrier confirms
- • Flight monitoring, so a late landing does not lose you the car
- • Car park P2, the airport's drop-off area

Drop-off: Les Deux Alpes, Oisans, Isère
A transfer drives to the door: hotels, chalets and apartments in the resort at 1,650 m. Give the full address and the name of the residence, not just Les Deux Alpes. If you are staying in Venosc, say so when you book: the village is below the resort, 8 minutes away by gondola.
Popular Drop-off Points:
- • Hotels, chalets and apartments in Les Deux Alpes
- • By the Jandri, for a first run
- • Place des Deux Alpes, by the tourist office
- • By the Venosc gondola

Best Travel Times
Midweek runs cleanest. The French winter holidays run from 6 February to 8 March 2027, and their Saturdays are the changeover days on this road: 6, 13, 20 and 27 February and 6 March. Grenoble is in zone A, off from 13 February to 1 March. Christmas holidays run from 19 December 2026 to 4 January 2027, and the Rise Festival fills the resort from 5 to 12 December 2026.
Traffic Patterns
The drive has three parts. From the terminal to the A48 is about 13 km, mostly the D119. The A48 and the A480 are the only motorway, about 37 km of it; the A480 round Grenoble has run on three lanes each way since 2022, with a 70 km/h limit on about 6 km. From the A480 exit it is ordinary road to the resort: the N85 to Vizille, then the D1091 through Séchilienne and Livet-et-Gavet to Le Bourg-d'Oisans and on to the Chambon dam. From Le Bourg-d'Oisans to the resort is about 24 km, a little under half an hour. An operator who drives the route allows at least an hour more on winter Saturdays and Sundays.
Road & Border Notes
The drive stays in the Isère and crosses no border. There is one toll, €3.90 each way for a car and €5.70 for a vehicle over 2 m high, between the Rives and Voreppe toll stations on the A48; nothing is charged on the D119 or after Grenoble. From 1 November to 31 March winter equipment is compulsory from Séchilienne up the Romanche valley and in Les Deux Alpes: four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels.
Carrier Tip
Give the full address and the name of the residence, not just the resort. Declare skis, boards and boot bags when you book, because they decide the vehicle. Ask the carrier to confirm winter tyres, and if you land on a holiday Saturday, say so: the quote and the pickup plan should be for that day, not for a Tuesday.

Price & Vehicle Options
A private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes costs from around €310 one way, priced per vehicle rather than per person. Three people pay about €103 each; six in a minivan pay about €52 each.

Prices are per vehicle, one way and indicative. On this run the published fares for a van start at the same level as those for a saloon, so the two steps carry one figure. Important Information
Meeting your driver at Grenoble Airport
Your driver meets you in arrivals, at the spot the carrier confirms when you book. The airport does not allow any stop in front of the terminal, so the car waits in car park P2, where the first 10 minutes are free. Give your carrier the flight number so it can track the landing.
Winter equipment
From 1 November to 31 March the law requires winter equipment in Les Deux Alpes and in the Romanche valley communes on the way up, starting at Séchilienne: four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels. Tyres marked only M+S stopped counting on their own on 1 November 2024. The rule covers every vehicle with four wheels or more, a transfer vehicle included.
One toll
The toll is paid once, on the A48 between the Rives and Voreppe toll stations: €3.90 each way for a car and €5.70 for a vehicle over 2 m high, at the tariff in force since 1 February 2026. The D119 from the airport, the A480 round Grenoble, the N85 and the D1091 are free.
Holiday Saturdays
The French winter holidays run from 6 February to 8 March 2027 in three zones, and the Saturdays inside them are changeover days: 6, 13, 20 and 27 February and 6 March. An operator who drives this road allows at least an hour more on winter Saturdays and Sundays. Take that as a margin, not a forecast.
Skis, boards and luggage
Declare ski bags, board bags and boot bags when you book. They decide the vehicle: a saloon carrying three passengers will not also carry three hard ski cases.
Child seats
Child and booster seats are available on request. Put the ages in the booking notes, not just the number of children, because the ages decide the seat type.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far is Les Deux Alpes from Grenoble Airport, and how long is the drive?
About 115 km and 1 hour 45 minutes in free-flowing traffic: the D119 from the terminal to the A48, the A48 and A480 to Grenoble, the N85 to Vizille, the D1091 up the Romanche valley through Le Bourg-d'Oisans to the Chambon dam, then the D213 up to the resort. Holiday Saturdays and snow make it longer.
How much does a private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes cost?
On TransferBnB a private transfer from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes starts from around €310 per vehicle for a saloon or a minivan and €555 for a minibus, one way; an estate is quoted on request. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so three people pay about €103 each and eight in a minivan about €39 each. Verified carriers send quotes for your date.
Is Grenoble Airport in Grenoble?
No. Grenoble Alpes Isère Airport is at Saint-Étienne-de-Saint-Geoirs, about 45 km north-west of Grenoble by road, about 35 minutes. A transfer to Les Deux Alpes takes the D119 to the A48, runs south to Grenoble and round it on the A480, then follows the Romanche valley.
Is there a bus or train from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes?
There is a bus and no train. Shared ski coaches run from the airport to Les Deux Alpes and are timed to the scheduled flights. The public route otherwise is the airport bus to Grenoble station, about 40 minutes, then the regional bus with a change at Le Bourg-d'Oisans. No railway serves the airport or the resort. A private transfer takes about 1h 45min with no change, leaves when your own flight lands and stops at your door, not at a coach stop.
Is Grenoble the nearest airport to Les Deux Alpes?
Yes. Grenoble Alpes Isère is about 115 km and 1h 45min from Les Deux Alpes by road. Chambéry is about 140 km and 2h 05min, Lyon-Saint Exupéry about 162 km and 2h 15min, and Geneva about 219 km and 2h 55min. All four routes share the same last 65 km: the N85, the D1091 up the Romanche valley and the D213 climb from the Chambon dam.
Do I need winter tyres or snow chains from Grenoble Airport to Les Deux Alpes, and are there tolls?
Yes to the equipment: from 1 November to 31 March the law requires four winter tyres marked 3PMSF, or chains or snow socks for at least two drive wheels, in Les Deux Alpes and in the Romanche valley communes from Séchilienne up. There is one toll, €3.90 each way for a car, on the A48 between Rives and Voreppe. The rule covers transfer vehicles too, so on a private transfer the equipment is the carrier's job; ask for winter tyres to be confirmed when you book.
Does the road to Les Deux Alpes cross the Col du Lautaret?
No. The drive from Grenoble follows the D1091 up the Romanche valley only as far as the Chambon dam, then turns right onto the D213 for about 10 km to the resort. The Col du Lautaret is further up the D1091, on the Briançon side, and is not on the way. The D213 from the dam is the resort's normal winter access road, and the resort says its roads are generally cleared of snow.
Can you ski on the Les Deux Alpes glacier in summer?
Yes, until early July. In 2026/27 the winter season runs from 28 November 2026 to 2 May 2027 and high-altitude skiing continues from 3 to 30 May 2027. From 31 May to 4 July 2027 the ski area opens in part and doubles as a training camp for athletes, federations and clubs. The resort's calendar ends on 4 July 2027, so there is no skiing in late July or August.

What our customers say
Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.
Thomas B. — London, UK Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.
Marta R. — Munich, Germany Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.
Olivier D. — Lyon, France Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.
Sarah K. — Dublin, Ireland Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.
Pieter V. — Amsterdam, Netherlands I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
Anna-Lisa M. — Vienna, Austria
