Leogang to Munich Airport is about 190 km and 2h 25min in free flow: the B 164 through Hochfilzen and Fieberbrunn to St. Johann in Tirol, the B 178 and the B 173 over the Eiberg to Kufstein Süd, 5.4 km of the Austrian A 12 to the border at Kiefersfelden, then the A 93, A 8, A 99 and A 92 to your terminal.
The border is on this leg. Germany's controls apply on entry into Germany, ADAC names Kiefersfelden among the crossings from Austria most affected, and ADAC reports the controls planned to run to 15 March 2027. The vignette is not an issue: the car joins the motorway at Kufstein Süd, inside the stretch that needs none. The Siegsdorf road through Saalfelden and Lofer avoids Austrian motorways too, but it is about 225 km and 20 minutes slower.
By train, every journey from Leogang to the airport needs at least two changes. The quickest take 3 hours 12 minutes, such as the 06:03 arriving at 09:15. For an earlier flight the choice is the 04:10 arriving at 07:55, or the 05:10 arriving at 08:57, with three changes at the weekend and four on a Monday, and all the luggage at every one. With a bike, the long-distance train needs a booked bike space and the regional train cannot be reserved.

Museum of Mining and Gothic Art
If the flight is late in the day, the museum at Hütten 10 is on the way out of the valley, in the same hamlet as the Asitz lift base. It connects medieval mining with Gothic art and tells the story of Salzburg's importance 500 years ago. The special exhibition, Masterpieces of Furniture Art, Salzburg 1450-1500, runs to 31 October 2026.

The first Tyrolean village after the Grießenpass is Hochfilzen, whose stadium has held three biathlon world championships, in 1978, 2005 and 2017, and hosts a World Cup every December, from 2 to 6 December 2026 this season, with races from Friday 4 to Sunday 6. A departure that weekend shares the village road with the event, so tell your carrier the date.

The Skicircus is planned to run to 4 April 2027, with peak season from 19 December 2026 to 12 March 2027, and the bike park runs to 8 November 2026. The Hochfilzen biathlon, 2 to 6 December 2026, puts event traffic on the B 164 on the first stretch. Nobody publishes a Saturday drive time for this road, so build the margin into the pickup time rather than trusting a free-flow figure.
Traffic Patterns
The first stretch is federal road: the B 164 over the Grießenpass through Hochfilzen and Fieberbrunn to St. Johann, then the B 178 and the B 173 over the Eiberg to Kufstein Süd. The Eiberg road is one of Tyrol's busiest state roads in winter. After Kufstein Süd it is motorway all the way: the A 12 to the border, then the A 93, A 8, A 99 and A 92.
