Two things to time on the way home

The Luegbrücke on the Austrian A 13 has carried one lane in each direction since 1 January 2025. A second lane opens on about 180 days a year and never on a day with snowfall; in ASFINAG's 2026 calendar the only December day marked two lanes towards Germany is Saturday 12 December. Germany controls entry at its border, and ADAC names Kiefersfelden, where this route crosses, among the crossings where waits recur; the controls are planned to run to 15 March 2027. Agree the pickup time with your carrier with both in mind.

Sources: ASFINAG, Luegbrücke driving calendar 2026 (as of June 2026), and ADAC, read 9 October 2026. The 2027 calendar was not published as of October 2026.

About This Transfer

The car collects you at your door in Selva and you stay in it to the terminal. Selva di Val Gardena to Munich Airport is about 317 km and 3h 50min in free flow: about 28 km down the valley road through Santa Cristina and Ortisei, onto the A 22 at Chiusa, over the Brenner on the A 13, down the Inn valley on the A 12, and through the border at Kiefersfelden onto the A 93, A 8 and A 99 to the airport. Selva is Wolkenstein in German, and a carrier will know it by either name.

Free flow is the best case on this drive, not the plan. The Luegbrücke on the A 13 is one lane each way as its normal state, and Germany checks traffic entering at Kiefersfelden. A carrier sets the pickup from your flight time backwards and adds a margin for both.

By train and local bus from Selva, a morning flight does not work on the day. The valley has no railway station, and in the early December 2026 timetable a traveller who left Selva on the first bus of the morning reached Munich Airport from 11:55. In the daytime the trip takes about six hours: the 09:07 bus from Selva met a train that reached the airport at 15:15.

The three tolls are the same northbound. At 2026 rates they are €4.10 on the A 22 from Chiusa to the Brenner barrier, €12.50 for the A 13, and €9.60 for a one-day Austrian vignette for the A 12: €26.20 in all. Most carriers put all three inside the offer.

If you have not booked flights yet, the questions further down compare the airports within reach of Val Gardena. Our ski transfers guide covers changeover Saturdays, and the ski resort transfers page explains what equipment and group size do to the offers.

  • ✓ Chiusa, the Brenner and Kufstein, three tolls
  • ✓ About 3h 50min in free flow, timed to your flight
  • ✓ Pickup at your door, drop at your terminal

Stop requests: Most carriers on this route are happy to make short stops at viewpoints or towns. Mention it when booking or ask your driver directly.
Before you leave

The Sellaronda, the day before

The Sellaronda circuit round the Sella massif is 44 km, 21 km of it on lifts, and the tourist board says to start by 10 a.m. That makes it a full day's skiing, so plan it for the day before you leave, not for departure day. Agree the pickup time with the carrier before you buy a pass for the last morning.

Sellaronda →
On the valley road

Ortisei

Ortisei is the last of the three villages on the way out, after Santa Cristina. In December it holds a Christmas market, as Selva does, and the road passes through the village on the way down to the motorway.

Val Gardena →
Where the motorway starts

Chiusa and Säben Monastery

The valley road meets the A 22 at Chiusa, Klausen in German, about 28 km from Selva. The town's tourist office lists Säben Monastery among its sights. From here the rest of the drive to Munich is motorway.

Route Overview

Pickup: Selva di Val Gardena, South Tyrol

The driver comes to your hotel or apartment, loads the skis and cases, and leaves from the door. Selva is the last of the three villages up the valley road, so a car collecting in Selva passes Santa Cristina and Ortisei on the way out and can pick up there as well. Give the carrier the street address and the village.

Popular Pickup Points:

  • • Hotels and apartments in Selva
  • • Piazza Nives in the village centre
  • • Santa Cristina, on the way down
  • • Ortisei, the last village before the motorway

Drop-off: Munich Airport (MUC)

Munich has two terminals, and the carrier needs to know which one your airline uses. The Terminal 2 departure lane is on Level 4. The kerb allows 10 minutes free, twice per calendar day, which is enough to unload skis and cases at the door.

Popular Drop-off Points:

  • • Terminal 1 departures
  • • Terminal 2 departures, Level 4
  • • Munich Airport Center between the terminals
  • • Airport hotels, for an early flight the next day

Local Route Knowledge

Practical intelligence from carriers who drive this route regularly.

Best Travel Times

Work back from the flight, not forward from breakfast. The drive is close to four hours in free flow before any margin for roadworks, the border and check-in. The lifts are scheduled to run to 4 April 2027; for a departure in the last days of the season, book the car when you book the flight.

Traffic Patterns

Northbound, the Luegbrücke on the A 13 is the place that sets the day: one lane each way as the normal state, a second lane on about 180 days a year in whichever direction needs it, and never when it snows. The lorry metering at Kufstein that slows the drive down from Munich is southbound and does not apply on the way home.

Road & Border Notes

There are two borders, the Brenner and Kiefersfelden. Germany controls entry, and ADAC lists Kiefersfelden among the crossings where waits recur; the controls are planned to run to 15 March 2027. Carry the passport or identity card you flew in with where you can reach it. Winter equipment is required on the A 22 from 15 November to 15 April whatever the weather, and in Austria from 1 November to 15 April in wintry conditions. South Tyrol's other roads require winter tyres whenever the road is wintry. Germany requires them whenever conditions are wintry, with no fixed dates.

Carrier Tip

Give the carrier your flight number and departure time, not a pickup time, and let them propose the pickup. Ask whether the offer includes all three tolls.

Price & Vehicle Options

A private transfer from Selva di Val Gardena to Munich Airport starts from around €320 one way. The price is per vehicle, not per person, so two people and four people pay the same base fare. Declare skis, snowboards and boot bags when you book, because they change which vehicle a carrier sends.

VehicleSeatsLuggageFromBest for
Sedan / Saloon1-32-3 bagsfrom €320Couples and solo travellers with soft luggage
Estate / Comfort1-44 bagsfrom €360A pair of ski bags, or a boot bag each
Minivan / Van5-88 bagsfrom €450Families and groups with equipment
Minibus8-16groupfrom €610Club trips and whole-chalet groups

Prices are per vehicle, one way and indicative, and the carrier confirms them before you pay. Six people in a minivan from €450 is €75 each. A Saturday in the ski season costs more than a weekday in June. TransferBnB is a request-for-offers marketplace, so you compare real quotes from carriers who want the job, not a published tariff.

Important Information

Setting the Pickup Time

Give your carrier the flight number and departure time and let them propose the pickup. The drive is about 3h 50min in free flow, and two things on it are not free flow: the bridge works on the A 13 and Germany's entry controls at Kiefersfelden. Agree the pickup the day before, when the carrier can see the traffic outlook.

The Three Tolls

The drive home has the same three tolls as the drive in, and every figure here is a 2026 rate. The Italian A 22 from Chiusa Val Gardena to the Brenner barrier is €4.10 at the 2026 tariff. The A 13 Brenner motorway charges a section toll of €12.50 per car in 2026 and needs no vignette. The A 12 from Innsbruck to Kufstein Süd needs the Austrian vignette, €9.60 for one day or €12.80 for ten at 2026 rates. Together that is €26.20 at 2026 rates. The A 13 and A 22 tolls are paid per trip, and the vignette is bought for a period. Confirm that the offer includes all three.

The German Border

Germany controls traffic entering from Austria, and the controls are planned to run to 15 March 2027. ADAC lists Kiefersfelden, on the A 93, among the crossings where waits recur. Keep passports or identity cards within reach, not in a case in the boot.

Skis, Snowboards and Luggage

Declare skis, snowboards and boot bags when you book, not on the day. Pricing is per vehicle, so equipment changes which vehicle the carrier sends and not the price per person. A saloon that seats four does not take four ski bags.

Child Seats

Carriers on this route provide child seats on request, but you need to book them. Put each child's age in the booking notes, because a booster and a rear-facing infant seat are different equipment. Confirm the seat is in the offer before you pay.

Which Timetable These Figures Come From

The rail times on this page come from the ÖBB journey planner and the bus times from the South Tyrol public transport planner, both queried on 9 October 2026 for Saturday 5, Sunday 6 and Wednesday 9 December 2026. Check the current timetable before you travel.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to get from Selva di Val Gardena to Munich Airport?

About 3 hours 50 minutes by car in free-flow traffic, over about 317 km, measured from the centre of Selva. The route is about 28 km down the valley road to Chiusa, the Italian A 22 to the Brenner, the A 13 and A 12 through Austria, and the A 93, A 8 and A 99 to the airport. Allow more than the free-flow time for the roadworks on the Brenner motorway and for Germany's entry controls at Kiefersfelden.

How do I get from Selva di Val Gardena to Munich Airport for a morning flight?

By road, with a private transfer booked to your flight time. By train and local bus, leaving Selva the same morning, a morning flight is out of reach: in the timetables for 5, 6 and 9 December 2026 the first bus left Selva at 05:39, or 06:37 on the Sunday, and the earliest arrival at Munich Airport was 11:55, or 12:55 on the Sunday. A car from your door in Selva takes about 3 hours 50 minutes in free flow, so the carrier sets a pickup in the small hours for a morning departure.

Is there a train from Val Gardena to Munich Airport?

Not from the valley. Val Gardena has no railway station; the nearest are Ponte Gardena, 18 km away, Chiusa, 23 km, Bressanone, 34 km, and Bolzano, 40 km. Buses 350 and 360 link Selva with the railway at Ponte Gardena and Bressanone, and bus 360 takes 1 hour 25 minutes to Bressanone station. In the timetables for 5, 6 and 9 December 2026 the 09:07 bus from Selva met the 11:04 train from Bressanone, which reached Munich Airport at 15:15 with one change at München Ost, about six hours in all. A private transfer takes about 3 hours 50 minutes from your door, with no change and no bus.

What tolls are there between Val Gardena and Munich?

Three. At 2026 rates the Italian A 22 from the Chiusa Val Gardena toll station to the Brenner barrier costs €4.10 for a car, the Austrian A 13 Brenner motorway charges a section toll of €12.50 and needs no vignette, and the A 12 from Innsbruck to Kufstein Süd needs the Austrian vignette, €9.60 for one day or €12.80 for ten, which makes €26.20 for the drive. On a private transfer most carriers include all three in the offer.

Are there border controls between Italy and Germany on this route?

On the German side, yes. The route crosses two borders, the Brenner and Kiefersfelden. Germany controls traffic entering from Austria, the controls are planned to run to 15 March 2027, and ADAC names Kiefersfelden on the A 93 among the crossings where waits recur. Keep your passport or identity card within reach and let your carrier add a margin to the pickup time.

Is the Luegbrücke on the Brenner motorway still one lane in winter 2026/27?

Yes, on most days. Traffic from the Brenner towards Innsbruck crosses the Luegbrücke on the Austrian A 13, which has carried one lane in each direction as its normal state since 1 January 2025. ASFINAG opens a second lane on about 180 days a year, towards the north or the south as traffic needs, but not on days with snowfall. Towards Germany, its 2026 calendar marks only Saturday 12 December as two lanes in December; the 2027 calendar was not published as of October 2026. The first new bridge structure is planned for the end of 2027. The route from Selva to Munich Airport crosses it.

Which airport is closest to Selva di Val Gardena for the flight home?

Bolzano, then Innsbruck, then Verona, then Munich. By road, Bolzano Airport is about 50 km from Selva, Innsbruck Airport about 122 km and 1 hour 45 minutes, Verona Airport about 197 km, and Munich Airport about 317 km and 3 hours 50 minutes. Travellers fly from Munich for its wider choice of flights. A private transfer covers the whole drive to Munich in one vehicle from your door.

How much does a Selva di Val Gardena to Munich Airport transfer cost?

From around €320 for a saloon, one way. An estate starts from €360, a minivan from €450 and a minibus from €610. Those prices are per vehicle, not per person, so six people in a minivan pay €75 each. Tolls on the route come to €26.20 at 2026 rates, and most carriers include them. TransferBnB is a request-for-offers marketplace: you post the trip with your flight, passenger count and ski bags, and verified carriers send offers you compare before you pay.

What our customers say

  • Driver was already outside arrivals when we landed in Geneva - he'd tracked the flight and knew we'd come through early. Three sets of skis loaded and we were on the road to Chamonix before most passengers had cleared customs.
    Thomas B. — London, UK
  • Good experience. Chose from three offers for Munich Airport to Kitzbühel, picked the one with the best rating. Straightforward.
    Marta R. — Munich, Germany
  • Four of us split the cost from Zurich Airport to St. Anton and came out cheaper than the shared shuttle per person - plus we went straight to the chalet door instead of stopping at every hotel in the valley. Hadn't expected it to work out that way but it did.
    Olivier D. — Lyon, France
  • Travelled with two small kids and a lot of luggage from Rome Fiumicino. I mentioned the stroller in the booking notes and the driver showed up with a large estate. No fuss.
    Sarah K. — Dublin, Ireland
  • Eight people, Geneva to Verbier, all ski gear. One minibus, one price, door to chalet. We paid less per person than the shuttle and didn't have to share with anyone else.
    Pieter V. — Amsterdam, Netherlands
  • I book private transfers for work fairly regularly across different platforms. What TransferBnB does differently is that you get the driver's name, direct number, vehicle, and plate before you travel - not just a confirmation number. For business trips where timing matters, that's the part that actually counts.
    Anna-Lisa M. — Vienna, Austria
