About This Transfer
You get into the car at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and are on the A 92 within minutes. Munich Airport to Leogang is about 190 km and 2h 25min in free flow. The motorway part is the A 99 round the east of Munich, the A 8 towards Rosenheim and the A 93 down the Inn valley to the border at Kiefersfelden. After 5.8 km of the Austrian A 12 the car leaves at Kufstein Süd, crosses the Eiberg on the B 173, follows the B 178 to St. Johann in Tirol and then takes the B 164 through Fieberbrunn and Hochfilzen, over the Grießenpass and down into the Leoganger Tal. The Asitz lift base at Hütten comes first, 3.4 km before the village centre.
Leogang is in the province of Salzburg, but the fastest road from Munich runs through Tyrol, and it needs no vignette: on this corridor the A 12 is vignette-free from the border to Kufstein Süd, and the rest is federal road. The tourist board lists this road among its toll-free routes from Germany. Its other one, the A 8 to Siegsdorf and down through Lofer and Saalfelden, is 35 km longer and about 20 minutes slower.
Leogang has two railway stations, Leogang and Leogang-Steinberge, and neither is reached without changing trains. On the timetable for the Skicircus opening weekend, the fastest journey from the airport takes 3 hours 12 minutes with two changes and runs every two hours; most departures in between take 3 hours 52 minutes with three. An evening landing is looking at the 19:44, which reaches Leogang at 23:36. In summer, a downhill bike needs a booked space on the long-distance train and an empty space on the regional train, which cannot be reserved.

Hochfilzen biathlon stadium
The B 164 runs straight through Hochfilzen, the last Tyrolean village before Leogang. Its stadium hosts a Biathlon World Cup every December, from 2 to 6 December 2026 this season, with races from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December, and it has held three world championships, in 1978, 2005 and 2017. An arrival that weekend shares the village road with the event, so tell your carrier the date.

The 2026 season runs from 8 May to 8 November, with the Asitz cable car daily from 09:00 to 16:30 until 26 October. The bike festival Saalfelden Leogang follows from 2 to 4 October 2026.

For 2026/27 it is planned to run from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, and an adult day pass costs €82.00 in peak season, 19 December to 12 March.

Pickup: Munich Airport (MUC)
Munich has two terminals, and your carrier needs your terminal as well as your flight number. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. The airport allows 10 minutes free at the kerb, twice per calendar day, and charges from the third entry, so a driver meeting a delayed flight parks and walks in rather than circling the kerb. Bike boxes and ski bags go straight from the belt to the vehicle.

Leogang is a string of hamlets along the B 164 rather than one resort street. The Asitz lift base at Hütten is 3.4 km west of the centre, the Steinberg lift base between them, 2.3 km from the centre, and Saalfelden 8 km east. Give your carrier the street address and say which lift you want to be near, because a hotel at Hütten and a chalet in Sonnberg are different drops.

Best Travel Times
Leogang has two seasons and two gaps. The Skicircus is planned from 27 November 2026 to 4 April 2027, with peak season from 19 December to 12 March, and the bike park runs from 8 May to 8 November. Between them, the lifts are shut. Inside the ski season, the Hochfilzen biathlon weekend, 2 to 6 December 2026, puts event traffic on the very road the car uses for the last stretch. Nobody publishes a Saturday drive time for this route, so treat any figure you are quoted as a carrier's estimate.
Traffic Patterns
The first delay, when there is one, is lorries. On dates Tyrol announces in advance, it meters lorries over 7.5 t on the southbound A 12 at Kufstein-Nord at up to 250 an hour, and ADAC says the queue often reaches back to the A 8. The announced dates in the ski season are Wednesday 9 December 2026, Thursday 7 January 2027 and then Mondays from 11 January to 15 March. That is before Kufstein Süd, so this route shares it. After the exit, the B 173 over the Eiberg is one of Tyrol's busiest state roads in winter, and the B 164 carries the last 28.5 km through Fieberbrunn and Hochfilzen.
Road & Border Notes
There is one national border, at Kiefersfelden on the motorway, and one provincial one, at the Grießenpass. Germany's controls apply on entry into Germany, so they bear mainly on the journey home; ADAC reports them planned to run to 15 March 2027. The fastest route needs no vignette, and neither does the Siegsdorf road through Lofer, which uses no Austrian motorway at all. Winter tyre law runs from 1 November to 15 April for cars, which need winter tyres in wintry conditions; a coach must have them fitted from 1 November to 15 March whatever the weather.

If you are bringing bikes, put the number of bikes in the booking and say whether they are boxed or built, because that decides between a van with the seats folded and a van with a rack or trailer. In winter, say whether you want the hotel or the Asitz lift base, which the car passes 3.4 km before the village.
