About This Transfer
You get into the car at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 and are on the A 92 within minutes. Munich Airport to Fieberbrunn is about 172 km and 2h 05min in free flow: the A 99 round the east of Munich, the A 8 towards Rosenheim, the A 93 down the Inn valley to the border at Kiefersfelden, and under 6 km of the Austrian A 12 before the car leaves at Kufstein Süd. From there it is the B 173 over the Eiberg, the B 178 under the Wilder Kaiser to St. Johann in Tirol, and the last 10.5 km east on the B 164 into the village. The driver stops at your hotel, not at the station.
That exit keeps the whole drive off vignetted motorway. The A 12 from the border to Kufstein Süd needs no vignette, and the PillerseeTal tourist board gives the same toll-free route from Munich. Staying on the motorway to Wörgl Ost is 14 km longer, about 15 minutes slower, and does need one.
By train there is no through journey. On the timetable for the Skicircus opening weekend, the fastest trip from the airport takes 2 hours 54 minutes with two changes, and a family landing in the evening is looking at the 19:44, which reaches Fieberbrunn station at 23:16.

Kufstein Fortress
The fortress stands on its rock above the Inn in Kufstein, just before the car leaves the motorway at Kufstein Süd, so it is the one stop on this road that costs little detour. In winter, 3 November 2026 to 20 March 2027, it opens daily from 10:00 to 17:00 with last entry at 16:00; in summer from 09:00 to 18:00. On a summer arrival with time in hand, it is the natural break between the airport and the mountains.

After the Eiberg the B 178 runs under the Wilder Kaiser past Söll, Scheffau, Ellmau and Going, the four villages where Der Bergdoktor is filmed every summer. You pass all four on the way in, and Ellmau is a short stop on the same road if you are a fan.

Fieberbrunn is the Tyrolean corner of the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn: 270 km of slopes and 70 lifts across the whole linked area, on one pass. The link is a single 10-person gondola, TirolS, running since December 2015 at 2,600 people an hour. There is no ski bus between Saalbach Hinterglemm and Fieberbrunn, so if TirolS stops, the way home is the road: 47 km and about 50 minutes.

The Wildseeloder, 2,118 m, is Fieberbrunn's freeride mountain and the only Freeride World Tour venue in the German-speaking countries. The resort runs LO.LA, a local avalanche warning system, for riders going off-piste. The 2026 Pro event was cancelled, and no 2027 date has been announced.

Pickup: Munich Airport (MUC)
Munich has two terminals, and your carrier needs your terminal as well as your flight number. Your driver waits in the arrivals hall with a name board. The airport allows 10 minutes free at the kerb, twice per calendar day, and charges from the third entry, so a driver meeting a delayed flight parks and walks in rather than circling.

Fieberbrunn is strung along the B 164, and the car reaches hotels, apartments and the lift station directly. The railway station sits 2.2 km from the village centre, which is why a train arrival still needs a last leg. Your ski ticket of one day or more is valid from 15:00 the day before, so a car that has you in the village before 15:00 buys a free afternoon on the mountain. Three dated periods sit inside the season: the Dutch Kerstvakantie, 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027; Hahnenkamm week in Kitzbühel, 18 to 24 January 2027; and the Dutch spring holidays, 13 to 21 February in the south and 20 to 28 February 2027 in the north and centre.
Traffic Patterns
The first delay, when there is one, is lorries. On dates Tyrol announces in advance it meters lorries on the southbound A 12 at Kufstein-Nord at up to 250 an hour, and ADAC says the queue often reaches back to the A 8. The announced ski-season dates are Wednesday 9 December 2026, Thursday 7 January 2027 and then Mondays from 11 January to 15 March. After Kufstein Süd, the B 173 over the Eiberg is one of Tyrol's busiest state roads in winter, and every car for Fieberbrunn then goes through St. Johann in Tirol before the B 164.
Road & Border Notes
There is one border, at Kiefersfelden on the motorway. Germany's controls apply on entry into Germany, so they bear on the journey home; ADAC reports them planned to run to 15 March 2027. The fastest route leaves at Kufstein Süd, where the vignette-free section ends, and everything after it is federal road. Winter tyre law runs from 1 November to 15 April for cars in wintry conditions; a coach must have them fitted from 1 November to 15 March whatever the weather.
Carrier Tip
Tell the carrier whether you are staying in Fieberbrunn itself or out in Pfaffenschwendt or Hochfilzen, and ask which exit the quote assumes: Kufstein Süd is the fastest and needs no vignette.
