About This Transfer
You get into the car at Terminal 1 or Terminal 2, and the next stop is Kirchberg in Tirol, the village beside Kitzbühel. Munich Airport to Kirchberg is about 169 km and 1h 55min in free flow. The motorway does most of it: the A 99 round Munich, the A 8 to the Inntal junction, the A 93 down the Inn valley to the border at Kiefersfelden, then 16.5 km of the Austrian A 12 to the Wörgl Ost exit. From there 4.3 km of the B 178 and 18.4 km of the B 170 Brixentaler Straße climb the Brixental, past Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Brixen im Thale, and the driver stops at your hotel.
Kirchberg has a lift of its own into each of two ski areas. The Fleckalmbahn at Klausen takes you up to the Ehrenbachhöhe in KitzSki, the Kitzbühel ski area. The Ki-West gondola in the Spertental, about 7 minutes from the centre by road, is a SkiWelt lift. A €36.00 day supplement, sold on a 2 to 14 day pass of either area, lets you ski the other one on the days you choose.

Kirchberg has its own station, in the village, but every airport journey on the ÖBB timetable for the opening weekend of December 2026 needs at least two changes. Kufstein Fortress
The first Austrian landmark on the drive, on its rock above the Inn. The car stays on the motorway past it, so it is a planned stop rather than a view from the kerb. It opens daily from 09:00 to 18:00, last entry 17:00, and the Bürgerturm tower holds the Heroes' Organ.
Festung Kufstein →Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Brixen im Thale
The Brixental road passes three SkiWelt villages before it reaches Kirchberg. The tourist board puts Brixen five minutes on from Westendorf and Kirchberg five minutes after that. If you are splitting a group across villages, one car can do all the drops on the same road.
Kitzbüheler Alpen Brixental →The Fleckalmbahn to the Ehrenbachhöhe
Kirchberg's main way into KitzSki starts at Klausen 2 and climbs to the Ehrenbachhöhe in the Kitzbühel ski area. It is 2.4 km by road from the station, and a transfer can drop you at the lift itself. In summer 2026 it ran from 4 June to 11 October, 08:30 to 17:00, for walkers and bikers.
Kitzbüheler Alpen →The Ki-West gondola to the SkiWelt
An 8-person gondola built in 2005, and the reason Kirchberg counts in the SkiWelt as well as KitzSki. In 2026/27 it runs daily from 08:45, closing at 15:45 until 29 January 2027 and at 16:15 until 29 March. The SkiWelt lists a car park at its valley station, free with a valid lift ticket.
SkiWelt →Kitzbühel and the Hahnenkamm
Kitzbühel is 7 km and about 10 minutes from Kirchberg. On a KitzSki ticket, the ÖBB train between Westendorf and Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm is free in ski clothing from 07:50 to 18:00, so a ski day on the Kitzbühel side does not need the car. In race week, 18 to 24 January 2027, Kirchberg is the organiser's official car park for arrivals from the Innsbruck side, with a free shuttle train to the finish.

Pickup: Munich Airport (MUC)
Your driver waits in the arrivals hall of your terminal with a name board, so tell the carrier the terminal as well as the flight number. The airport allows 10 minutes free at the kerb, twice per calendar day, and from the third entry it charges from the first minute. For longer waits it points drivers to P20 and the P1, P3 and P4 underground car parks, so a driver meeting a delayed flight parks and walks in.

Kirchberg is an open village on the B 170, so the car reaches hotels, chalets and both lifts. The station is in the village, about a 10 minute walk from the centre by the tourist board's figure, and its car park is for train-ticket holders, reached during the rebuild via the B 170 at the M-Preis supermarket. The Fleckalmbahn is at Klausen, 2.4 km from the station. Ki-West is in the Spertental, about 5.5 km from the centre. Give your carrier the street address, not just 'Kirchberg'.

Best Travel Times
KitzSki prices its Premium band, 20 December 2026 to 13 March 2027, as the peak of the season. Inside it fall the Dutch Kerstvakantie, 19 December 2026 to 3 January 2027, the Dutch spring holidays across the second half of February, and Hahnenkamm week, 18 to 24 January 2027. On Downhill Saturday, 23 January, the organiser wants spectators parked by 09:00. A transfer into Kirchberg that Saturday should land you before the race traffic, not in it.
Traffic Patterns
On weekdays, the first delay, when there is one, comes from lorries. On dates Tyrol announces in advance, it meters lorries at Kufstein at a maximum of 250 an hour, and ADAC says the queue often reaches back to the A 8. The published dates run through the autumn and on Mondays from 11 January to 15 March 2027. After that, a Kirchberg transfer leaves the motorway at Wörgl Ost and has one road into the valley, the B 170, shared with every guest bound for Hopfgarten, Westendorf and Brixen. Nobody publishes a Saturday drive time for it, so treat any figure you are quoted as a carrier's estimate.
Road & Border Notes
There is one border, at Kiefersfelden on the motorway. Germany's controls apply on entry into Germany, so they bear on the journey home, and ADAC reports them planned to run to 15 March 2027. Austrian winter tyre law runs from 1 November to 15 April, and the tourist board warns that on rare days chains can become compulsory for a short time around Hopfgarten.
Carrier Tip
Tell the carrier which lift you are skiing from on the first morning. Kirchberg has two, in opposite directions: the Fleckalmbahn at Klausen for KitzSki and Ki-West up the Spertental for the SkiWelt. A family dropped at the right hotel for the wrong lift spends the first morning on a ski bus.
